General Duties

Our caregivers focus on providing companionship while tending to the client's daily needs. Duties include cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal care, occasional accompanying to medical appointments, medication reminders, assistance with transfers and ambulation, and any other activity of daily living (ADL) or instrumental activity of daily living (IADL) at the client's request.

All employees must be 18 years of age or older, have references, and reliable transportation. All employees are required to pass a criminal background check, including a child abuse clearance, and have a current CPR certification. Kind Healing, LLC has a zero tolerance policy for substance abuse. All caregivers must pass a company required drug screening. Caregivers must possess effective communication skills, dependability, and an empathetic and compassionate nature. All caregivers must be reliable and pass all pre-employment background screenings. Experience is not required, but it is preferred.

All prospective employees meet face-to-face with one of our staff at least twice before being hired. Subsequent to their first interview, their references are verified and, upon receiving favorable recommendations, they return for a second interview. In this phase, the applicant meets with another staff member and undergoes a core skill competency evaluation. When hired, the new employee goes through our training program and orientation.

Every employee is subject to a background check via the Pennsylvania State Police. Any individual who has not been a resident of the state for two years before hire also undergo a federal criminal background check.

At Kind Healing, LLC each prospective employee is evaluated for their understanding in the following areas: confidentiality; consumer control & independent living philosophy; instrumental activities of daily living; recognizing changes in behavior that need to be addressed; basic infection control; universal precautions; handling of emergencies; documentation; recognizing & reporting abuse/neglect; dealing with difficult behaviors; bathing, shaving, grooming & dressing; hair, skin, & mouth care; assistance with ambulation & transferring; meal preparation & feeding; toileting; assistance with self-administered medications. After hire, each employee is re-evaluated yearly and as needed.

Every employee is required to undergo a tuberculin skin test upon hire. Yearly screenings are also conducted to reduce any risk of possible undetected infection.
